Is Claude down for you? Anthropic shares what’s going wrong (Updated)

Claude users report elevated error rates this morning.

Anthropic confirms the outage, and has already started taking steps to mitigate the impact.

Ongoing issues are affecting the login process, and Anthropic warns users not to sign out of their accounts until it’s resolved.

Update, September 29, 2026 (01:12 PM ET): Anthropic now reports that Claude is back to full working order.

We know; anytime we run into major trouble with a service, we’re always going to start diagnosing things in our head, trying to at least rule out the obvious possibilities. Right now, Clause users may be banging those heads against some nearby keyboards as they attempt to work out what’s going wrong with Claude, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork.
