
Resident Evil Movie Will Become Zach Cregger’s Biggest Ever, Surpassing Weapons
Zach Cregger has another hit on his hands with Resident Evil, and it's set to become his biggest movie ever by revenue at the box office.
According to Deadline, Resident Evil is expected to surpass his current biggest movie, Weapons ($270 million worldwide), by the end of this week or sooner. It currently stands at $247.6 million worldwide.
What's propelling Resident Evil higher was its release in China this week--it debuted there on October 5, and it's expected to make $35 million in China for its first week. If this comes to fruition, Resident Evil should pass $280 million globally this week.
The previous Resident Evil movies from director Paul W.S. Anderson also performed phenomenally in China. The last one, 2016's The Final Chapter, made $159.5 million in China alone, making up more than 51% of the movie's worldwide gross of $312.2 million. It's the highest-grossing Resident Evil movie ever. …
