Google Antigravity looks like an Android app, but your phone isn’t invited

Google Antigravity is now listed in the Play Store, but it’s built for Googlebooks rather than regular Android phones.

We sideloaded the app on a Pixel phone, where its interface was poorly scaled, and setup failed during Terminal VM configuration.

Googlebook OS uses the Android stack, so the Play Store may increasingly include apps that look like Android apps but only work on Googlebooks.

Seeing an app in the Google Play Store usually comes with a pretty safe assumption: your Android phone can probably run it. But Google’s new Antigravity listing reminds us that the Googlebook OS is about to make that assumption a lot less reliable. Antigravity has now landed on Google Play, but despite the familiar storefront, this is very much a Googlebook app — and our attempt to force it onto a Pixel phone went nowhere.
