
Google Translate could soon get its own version of Gboard’s Rambler
Google introduced Rambler for Gboard earlier this year, removing filler words and cleaning up your voice input for text conversion.
Now Google Translate appears to be preparing its own similar mode called Smart assist.
It’s not yet clear if Smart assist would have some of the same limitations as Rambler.
Voice-to-text sounds like a great idea… until you actually listen closely to how people really speak. While we expect the written word to be clear and formal, speech is often anything but — and that’s exactly why we have tools like Rambler in Gboard, able to compensate for our messy utterances. Now Google Translate looks like it could be cooking up a similar system of its own.
