
Google Meet and Microsoft Teams just got better at working together
Google Meet and Microsoft Teams can now work across supported Android-based meeting-room hardware.
Meet hardware can join Teams calls, while Android-based Microsoft Teams Rooms can join Google Meet meetings.
The feature began rolling out on October 1 and should reach eligible Google Workspace customers within 1-3 days.
If you’ve ever walked into a meeting room only to realize the call is on Microsoft Teams while the room is set up for Google Meet, you’ll know how unnecessarily complicated something as simple as joining a video call can become. Google started addressing that problem last month when it previewed a new interoperability feature that would let Meet and Teams hardware work together.
The idea was to remove some of the usual barriers between the two platforms. With the feature, a meeting room equipped with Android-based Google Meet hardware could join a Microsoft Teams call, while a Microsoft Teams Room running Android could do the same with a Google Meet call. …
